Wafer Expansion Butterfly Valve
The Wafer Expansion Butterfly Valve is an advanced flow control device engineered for demanding operating conditions involving abrasive, powdery, or granular media. Its core feature is a pneumatically actuated, inflatable elastic seat: when the valve closes, the seat is inflated with a medium (air) to form a uniform, airtight (zero-leakage) seal against the valve disc; conversely, before the valve opens, the pressure is released, creating a clearance between the seat and the disc. This design ensures that components make contact only in the fully closed position, virtually eliminating friction and significantly extending the service life of both the seat and the disc. With its superior wear resistance, low maintenance requirements, and reliable bidirectional shut-off capabilities, this inflatable sealing design offers an ideal, cost-effective, and high-performance solution for challenging fluid control applications.

Friction-free operation and significantly reduced operating torque
The most notable feature of the wafer expansion butterfly valve is its innovative inflatable seat design, which eliminates the friction and wear issues inherent in traditional butterfly valves. Conventional butterfly valves rely on the disc pressing against the sealing ring to shut off flow, resulting in friction during opening and closing. In contrast, the inflatable butterfly valve employs a smarter mechanism: upon closing, the seat (sealing ring) momentarily inflates like a balloon—powered by an external air source—to tightly grip the disc and achieve a zero-leakage seal. When opening, the seat first deflates to release the disc before the disc rotates to the open position. This "grip-then-release" action ensures virtually no friction at the moment of actuation, drastically reducing wear on the seat and disc and significantly extending their service life. Consequently, the energy consumption and size of the actuator can be reduced, leading to significant operational cost savings.

Superior wear resistance and extended service life
Engineered to withstand extreme abrasive conditions, this wafer expansion butterfly valve solves the problem of premature valve failure commonly encountered in such applications. By eliminating continuous contact between the sealing surfaces during rotation, the valve virtually eliminates seat abrasion and disc impact—the primary causes of failure for standard butterfly valves when handling abrasive media. The disc surface can be coated with wear-resistant materials, such as tungsten carbide, ensuring exceptional durability under conditions of severe erosion.

Excellent performance in handling dry bulk materials, powders, and abrasive media
The disc design of the inflatable wafer butterfly valve prevents material buildup and offers superior wear resistance. Thanks to its self-cleaning capabilities and durability, the valve performs well when handling media containing small amounts of fibers or soft particles.
